Colour Scheme

For the colour scheme I don't want the city to be like the Matrix and be the black and green colour. I know the Firewall room will be red and black but for the city I want something different.

For this I looked towards "Minority Report" for its stark light blue colourscheme. I also liked their idea of a floating computer screen so I thought the "Virus Alert" could be displayed on the walls of the city which are all screens

Cityscape...

I've never been very good at backgrounds so I'm not going to make a city that looks like the ones we have today very much. I've been looking at images of microchips and I like their aesthetic so I think I'll make a city that is shaped very much like a large microchip.

Battle Hunter

For the Anonymous people I think I'll do what the old game "Battle Hunter" does and have people be explained as a sphere floating above an upside down pyramid

I can't find many images on it. It wasn't a very popular game for the Playstation.

examples:

Virus?

If everyone's Digital. What would a virus do?

People

Since I don't have much time for this animation the random background people who I need to make the city look populated will be a problem. It's time consuming to draw that many people so instead of appearing as peope I think I'll have them appear as anonymous entities much in the style of the MSN Messenger. People can be "blocked" and their names float above their heads like they do in a lot of MMORPGs

Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040

I think the most obvious style/theme for an animation for posthuman is something to do with cyberpunk.

When I think cyberpunk I think of the old and surprisingly little known anime called "Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040." It has mecha, evil humanoid robots, strong female characters and an powerful corporation with its own sinister agenda.

Clip I found. It's near the ending. I like the graphics at the beginning of the anime

Ideas

I'm going to do the video in Flash since I don't have AfterEffects and the vector style I'm going to use (because I like vectors) would take longer in AfterEffects.

I think for my story I'll do something in the vein of a virtual world with no reference to the "real" (physical) world. Underlying themes which probably won't be able to be explored will be the fluidity and unreliability of identity in a world where everything can be programmed and recoded, possibly even duplicated.

I think my "main characters" will be two girls who are born from the same code and thus resemble each other in some way. I'm not sure

Week 1

Concepts for POSTHUMAN ANIMATION
Duration: 1 minute
Style: Unknown

A strange find on NSwiki: http://nswiki.net/index.php?title=Posthuman_Philosophy

The basis of Posthuman Philosophy is that Posthumans are the next stage of Human Evolution and because of this, all humans (or derogatory name is "Unevolved") must one day be Upgraded or be destroyed. Because the Posthuman is the next stage of human evolution a whole new way of thinking and seeing reality had to be developed in order to keep up with the evolution of the Posthuman.

Principles of Posthuman Philosophy (as promoted by the government)

1. All must Be Upgraded

2. Religion is the Flawed Expression of the Unevolveds and must be rejected by a true Posthuman

3. One must seek to create Order from Chaos

4. All must Seek to bring no Harm to others unless necessary

5. Society is built upon a structure that must be upheld and changed only at great need

6. The only absolutes are the ones that come from Posthuman Perfection

Random notes

- Anti religion, a rejection
-Upgrading?????
-Safety
-Strutured society, lack of true freedom??

Personal Focus: The fluidity of identity when it comes to cyberspace, virtual lives

- Waking up/ logging in. Instant appearance of the main character (she blinks in), flipping through different usernames/personas/avatars (can have a different face like the Laughing Man)
-Waving off religious symbols, spam filter
-Passing by people in the street. Status as "Anon" makes other people see each other as blank faces, blink through the views of other people, reveal who they are
-Pop-up, new eye downloads, flicking through the different eyes like at the beginning of a game where people sift through the different faces and body types they can have for their avatars. Choosing something results in a download bar and a transformation
-Things like gender and race can easily be modified
-I wonder how people would communicate? Maybe something like a public chatroom/bar
-End: she runs into someone with exactly the same avatar or everyone goes anonymous and she's lost in the crowd
